Hi Guys:
I just read the preliminary API document for the UCMI interface. Has anyone considered using the Onboard APIC on P6 series processors and above to implement such a scheme. Most computers over 500Mhz are P6 series and by what I'm reading the APIC on the CPU should be able to do almost as well. I'm thinking of doing some APIC experiments on this to see just what the Asyncronous 4-axis pulse rate would be, say on a 800Mhz machine and was wondering if I'd be reinventing the wheel and if anyone has played with APIC programming at all. An Application written for the APIC with the same API would make it trivial to have a low-end app for the PC without the UCMI and a Hi-end version with API with no additional work, just relinking. Sounds interesting.
