Hi All:
Dental handpieces are the greatest thing since sliced bread for all
kinds of hobby type stuff.
They cut smoothly, and are really easy to manoevre around.
Go to your dentist and ask if he has any old ones kicking around.
All the dentists went to push button chuck handpieces about 10 years ago,
and there are bazillions of old key chuck models gathering dust in drawers
all over the country.
If you can, get Midwest Quietair handpieces; they are nice because they have
very robust bearings in them, and can take a lot of abuse.
Get 1558 burs, (they are about $1.50 CDN apiece), and you can cut steel at a
pretty impressive rate.
How do I know all this?? Up until June of 1998, I was a dentist. Now I'm a
toolbreaker again and I'm a happy guy!!
By the way; if it hurts, you need a new dentist!!!
Cheers
Marcus
