Folks:

I don't know if you were aware of it, but Borland is offering "open
editions" of their Delphi language both for the Linux and Windows 9x
operating environments.

If you're not familiar with Delphi, it's an object Pascal based language
with a Visual Basic style interface. In my opinion, the components it offers
are more complete than those offered with VB, and the price is certainly
more attractive. Should you choose to download these, I'd recommend working
with a download manager that can recover should the connection become
broken. The packages are quite large (The Windows 9x version is around 140
Mbytes so it'll tie up the phone line quite a bit should you try to download
it all at once but, with a download manager, you should be able to download
it in pieces over a few nights).

Vector to www.borland.com\downloads for more information.

I've used Delphi for the Windows environment for several years, and am quite
happy with the results.
