Hey John.
Here is my 2 cents worth on the subject.
I have moved several of these machines. They are over 4K lbs. You need a
good (6') prybar and 3 steel rods less than 1" od. to roll it on. Heavy
wall pipe will work. (I use 5/8" OD Cold rolled) The lower to the ground,
the better.
I tried Hillman (catepillar style) rollers. DO NOT DO THAT! We got the
machine off the trailer, on the rollers,
across the floor, and it had been sitting still over a minute and it fell
over on top of my Dad. He was trying to hold it up (and he is a strong son
of a gun) and I was screaming GET OUT OF THE WAY! All I could see was his
head sticking out and blood. I raced to the other side and he was scooting
out. He had gotten between the table and the backbone of the machine. His
Lucky day and mine. But I found out something that day.
A dually wrecker will pick up a BOSS 5 with the boom extended 14'. I could
not believe it.
He only charged $30. So if you do not have a forklift, call a wrecker. A low
trailer is also great. Make sure you chain it down and and tighten the
chains with binders. There is a 7/8" threaded hole in the ram that you can
screw an eye into. And never sit it on a metal trailer or truck bed. Put
plywood or 2x4's in between.
It will slide like it is on bearings if you don't.
Use exterme caution. Your life may very well depend on it.
Let us know how it works out.
