I can't believe I didn't think of posting this sooner, and no one else has
mentioned it yet! You can download FREE software from Solid Edge for solid
modeling and parametric 2D drafting. They're offering a cut-down version of
their standard package for FREE, not just a demo. I haven't downloaded it
myself since I already own the fullblown version, but a customer of mine
downloaded it to be able to read in my work, and is already making solids
and drawings. I'm not sure how much of the functionality they've left out,
but I think it's similar to their fullblown version as of about a year ago.
Supposedly it's much better than just a demo, since you can save your work,
and there are no restrictions on file size, # of days/uses, etc. (so I
hear). Check it out. it's very easy to use especially if you are into
windows.

Hope somebody finds this useful.
