Hi Jerry,

You might check out RUTEX "RT900 Motion control IC – STEPEX"

http://rutex.com/

or

DesKam's new driver module for the Windows controller package.

http://www.deskam.com/desknc_WIN.html

I am looking at both.

Not sure what you mean by "The different controllers all want different
motors", as controller programs usually issue step/dir or 4-phase
signals, and the driver can drive a variety of motors, by selecting
voltage an current to match the motor. Obviously 5-wire unipolar motors
can't be driven by bipolar drivers, but a lot of unipolar motors are 6
or 8 wire, which can be. And 4-wire bipolar motors CAN'T be driven by
old unipolar drivers.

These two "controller" boards produce step/dir signals, and the driver
and motors can be whatever you want.
