Dave:
No problem, I myself really didn't trust windows at first, I am a unix
user from way back, but I must tell you I deal with unix on a fequent basis
and it's not unusually to get lockup's freezes and Panic reboots in unix.
The bad rap windows currently has is not as deserved as quite a few people
think. Window's real problem is how versatile it is, people load hundreds of
programs over a years period, each with drivers and other dll's with varying
stability writen by hundreds of programers. It can lead to very unstable
systems. Most unix users load tens of programs in the same time period.
Hence, more stability.
The though that unix is a safer system to control equipment is not
readily justifiable and this can be proved by the fact that until this year,
unix was the only platform used by major medical companies to run Cat
scanners, Pet scanners, MRI's, radiation therapy machines..etc.
This year, almost all companies are dropping unix in favour of , you
guessed it, Windows.
So, if the though of a Windows machine controlling dangerous machinery
bothers you, don't get sick, chances are, a Windows machine will control
your therapy.
(And I'll be taking care of it! :) )
