Heatsinks for Gecko's

In many applications the Gecko drives with the provided heatsink
mounting base is sufficient as is. . However, when more heat dissipation
is required larger heatsinks are required.
I have looked at the various options for using heatsinks on the Gecko
G201A/G210 and the G320/G340. Some people are using small fans on the
bottom of the GXXX but I looked at this and figured it was more trouble
than is was worth. I also had needed to mount 4 G210A of a common
heatsink and figured out a way. I was setting the current for 5A per
phase so I definitely need a heatsink and a fan. I finally found one but
I needed to modify it. It is 4.625X10.1L and 1.2”H
I used my cnc mill to drill the 16 holes that are tapped for 4-40 screws
and then turned it over and milled the fins for relief. I mounted 4
G210’s on them and mounted this in my G201/G210 case with a fan. The
heatsink in mounted upside down so that the fins are facing the bottom
of the case so some loss in dissipating the heat would be encountered
however with the fan and the airflow over the heatsink I noted that
with my 36VDC power supply that the heatsink temperature only rose 10F
over ambient temperature with all 4 motors running where they would draw
max current.
I liked the way it work so well that I decided to make a batch of them.
If interested in them send me some email offline.
