About a month ago I was speaking to Mike Milligan at Dolphin systems
about the fact that most of my work was delivered as DXF files. I
then took these into Dolphin CAD, gave them a profile name and depth
and then exported them into the CAM side. The rest of the info like
tool size, feed speed etc was added and the post file produced when I
was happy with the cutting operation.
He rang me today to say they had acted on this and now it was
possible to bring the DXF straight into the CAM side and add the
depth there. This cuts out the CAD and make it a lot quicker. I will
be getting a new copy in the next few days and I'll try it and report
back.
This is the main advantage of dealing with a small company like this,
you get to speak with the people who count. I think a month to get
something like this added is very good.
I also asked about Dolphin being released to the home shop people at
an affordable cost.
They do have one module out at present, their older version 5.0 that
is marketed by Quantum CNC the Taig people. Web site

Dolphin is working at the moment with Quantum on the home shop copy
of their new Partmaster program as well as finishing up the work on
the full industry copy of their mill and lathe program.
