Hi Eric:

The table is built from surplus parts being thrown out where I work.
The Z-Carriage is an acme screw. The belt seen in the pictures is the X-Axis
drive belt. (its all I had at the time). The third motor in the picture is a
DC servo motor I use to cut Wax and shallow engravings in Slate. It draws
30Volts at 2 amps and is whisper quiet so I can use it without driving my
wife nuts. The Y-Axis drive is a wire rope on a pulley taken off my
sailboat. It works pretty good. In future I'll replace the wire rope with a
ballscrew when I can find one cheap. The Belt drive works great so I think
I'll just put a gear reducer on the belt to up the resolution.
The Stepper motors are $29.00 surplus AC syncronous motors which were
rewired to bipolar steppers ( a 20 minute proceedure) and can crush you if
you let them they are so strong. They are driven by home made controllers
and one centent on the Z-Axis. (I happened to find one).
What would you like a closeup on?
