Text below was snipped from a post in alt.machines.cnc by Tom Bentley, a
Surfcam dealer. Thought some folks here might find it interesting. No
commercial connection with this, and in fact Surfcam would not be high
on my list of CAM programs if I could buy. But when the price is
right....<G>

----------------------------
The Free SURFCAM deal has been in the works for months. I personally was
the
one who started and laid out the plan for the software give-away over 3
months ago in a 5 Star meeting. This version of the software of for
real. It
is a 2d only version that creates wireframe geometry, does multiple
offset,
multiple depth contouring and pocketing, drilling, tapping, and boring
functions. It creates dimensions and output drawings. It come with a
number
of postprocessors and outputs 4 decimal place G-code. No it's not our
full
2d package but it will beat the heck out of a lot of systems being used
now
that cost $300-800 a seat.

All Surfware wants in return is an e-mail address to mail the access
codes
to. Doesn't cost anything. Are you going to get a couple propaganda
e-mails?
Ya da, this is a marketing plan. You wont get one every day or anything
like
that but you will get a couple. Can you put it on your shop floor and
use it
everyday at no cost? Yes. Does it really work? Yes, it's for real. Can
you
modify the posts? Yes. Is there documentation available? Yes, it comes
with
it. Can you put it on as many Pc's as you want? Yes. Can you save files
and
use them again? Yes, it's also file compatible with regular versions of
SURFCAM. It also reads IGES and DXF files.
<irrelevant info snipped>
If anybody wants information about this give-a-way go to Surfware's web
site
at www.surfcam.com. All the answers are there. You can also get the
software
from this site. Official ship date is scheduled to be November 15th.

Please, download it and use, It truly is free.
