Hello:
A number of stepper motor manufacturers specifically state not to machine
the shaft...does something to the magnetic characteristics...you might not
see anything wrong as far as 'it runs ok' , but the speed-torque bahvior
might be different. Disassembling steppers is bad for same reason.
