I attended the Biennial Industrial Woodworking Midwest Expo in Grand
Rapids, Michigan today. There was an interesting CO2 pulsed (not
continuous wave) air cooled 30 watt laser with x/y cnc table working
in an encloser doing all sorts of wonderful things. Thought the
group might be interested in the hardware...Epilog Laser found at
www.epiloglaser.com. The other interesting part is the software used
for engraving...called PhotoGrav found at www.photograv.com. The
software takes scanned images or other graphics as input and outputs
a fine (up to 1200 dpi) dot matrix. The finished engravings I examined "printed" at 600 dpi were excellent.
