Good Iron, Bad Silicon

About a year ago I purchased a used Bridgeport V2XT CNC milling machine. It
has taken me all this time to get it moved into my garage, and powered up.
The computer boots up most of the time, but will eventually have to be
replaced since it is a 286 with a trashed hard drive. The old Bpt. Boss
software seems to be intact but something is very wrong in the control
enclosure!

I get notification of failure on all possible axes any time I try to enable
one. All the servo amplifier boards show a fault condition even though I
know that at least one board, if not all three of them are in good condition.
The little LED's all over the internal boards must be telling me something,
if only I could understand them!
The real ironic thing is that I live fairly close to the Bridgeport
factory, but service would have to come out of Boston if I contacted them
directly. I just want to get this "boat anchor" up and running enough for
simple things
now, and later convert it to PC-based control.
