Hold it a bit

Okay, I have read some of what you have said about machining.....

Jon, take a break :)

Can you think of a way to index this material - in such a way that
it could fit nicely into the FAQ without you having to work long
into the morning hours ? ( sorry, I don't suggest that YOU should do
it, - but we do need some way to order the stuff, if we are to be of
any help. Even to copy here and there, and paste it, - is a work
load. I am also very sorry that there is little I can help with,
because of my lack of knowledge into the field )


As I said - I don't know much, but my thoughts was something like
indexing it into, hmm....

- engraving letters
- trepan ( or what ever you would like to call it )
- turning

I do think we should try to find a way to organize it, what do you
other folks think ?
( if you should do something and would like to read about how
others have done it, how would it be easy to navigate to that
subject ? )

Think about it for a while. The amount of knowledge here, could
end up in something very nice ! But IMO we need to think a bit
on how we can do it.

( a total side track: The word "trepan" ( I don't know :) but I
think it is a medical term. They have found sculls 5000 years old,
and they did some trepanning to fix each other brain after hitting
each other with rocks. Hmm... maybe I need that kind of .... I
would have to talk to my doctor - Ian - about it :)

If anyone do find any value in what I wrote about current loop, and
your comments about it, - if some one could, please use any part of
it, and make it presentable enough to be included as a topic in the
FAQ. Add sub titles, and include telecom info from Mark to it.
This way someone could find our efforts worth reading.

Please correct me, on any thing you don't like, - but my thoughts
about this is: I drop my "ego" about things, and try to share what
ever others can use or find helpful. ( Of course that is hard for
any ass to do - so excuse me when I fail :)

I loved a lot of our chats with Eliot on encoders and talbot stuff.
So, how can we index such items ? ( of course the persons quoted,
should say if they are willing to be quoted - and if they wish -
have their name there too. We could also make a system in such a
way, that other people outside - don't have the option to read the
contest before it is approved - if someone would like to brush it up
a bit )

I have spent much time on this list, and it would all be very nice
if someone would find some use of it later on, if we could extract
the useful parts from the afflicted parts :-)

Here is another idea:

With Varkon, or another system, - I would like to do the following:

( I use your example Jon )

A model of the Bridgeport - then feed your "want do do" drawings to
it. See the simulation, - stop it and where you want to add
changes, - insert them interactively - then pop back into
simulation. When you think you have it, the way you want, let it
produce G-codes, - or save it. You can do all this in a peaceful
place, before you crank up the engines in a noisy workplace.
