RE : EMC

hello world

I'm looking for sources of information on
the EMC, I did not know of it even existed until
I joined this group. From the various topics my
understanding is that it is an ongoing project
with the aim of providing a general purpose PC
based CNC control system.
My initial questions are :-

where is the EMC home site
Is there an official body in overall charge
how are updates controlled
is there a spec document/manual

There are so many other questions but I guess
i'll be able to do my own legwork if someone can
point me to the right web sites.
