According to their web site, their drive can drive a 200 volt motor at 20
amps and they are not limited to the Gecko fault condition which occurs at
128 steps from desired position. I think when you use the step multiplier,
the input step counter - position counter" difference tolerated on the Gecko
is further reduced from 128 , if I am not mistaken. I don't know whether I
have explained this clearly, but based on my limited experience with the
Geckos, when one wants to push the limits on moving lots of machine iron
fast, as in a succession of rapid moves when you may not really don't care
about perfect corners , the 128 step limit can be a limiting factor.
I also like the aspect of having separate signal lines for fault outputs and
drive enables that the Rutex drive features. The Geckos require the user to
design a separate circuit board to handle the fault conditions, and
resetting the drive.
Has anyone tried these drives?
