Hi Richard,

CGB Precision Products in Melbourne carry the PIC Industrial Components
http://www.pic-design.com range of products. These include leadscrews and
anti backlash nuts. Their address is;

94 Voltri St
MENTONE 3194
VICTORIA

(03) 9584 5311

As to the printers, I too collect what I can, especially the old dot matrix
ones. It's amazing to see the change in the construction of them over time.
In the early ones, tens of screws had to be removed to change a part. in the
last ones made, every thing was modularised, and removable by a couple of
screws.

By the way where in Australia do you live,

Cheers,

Peter Homann

Subject: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Antibacklash Leadscrews and Nuts

Hi to everyone,
I would like to know if anyone has any info on where I can get
Antibacklash leadscrews in Australia and possibly 3 secondhand size
34 steppers. I have looked around the site www.ballscrews.com.au and
they only seem to have Ballscrews for sale in their product range.
These are a bit pricey for me not that I have found a price on
anything like that yet in all my searchings.
Has any one else had the same trouble as me in trying to find out the
price of hardware on the net? All the sites I have come across make
you email them for a price which I find takes from 5 days to never to
get back to me or they redirect me to another site which starts the
ball rolling again.
Sorry about the bitching but I am having a devil of a time locating
the price of things. I have been reading through this site for the
last week and am up to message #6000 and much more knowledgeable on
the CNC front (and some eyedrops to boot). I can't wait until next
year when I catch up to the newer messages.
I would prefer to buy locally but if I have to I will buy overseas
and have the long wait for delivery. Any help on some screws will be
very much appreciated.
I usually source all my parts from Office suppliers and end up with a
heap of Printers/Scanners/photocopiers etc. Most of these still work
and are just trade-ins that nobody wants and have a good supply of
bearings/transformers/steel shafting/and usually size 23 steppers
(never the same voltage or amperage). Toshiba will only keep parts
for 4 years until they discontinue their support for that machine so
alot of trade-in stuff gets thrown out that still is in working
order. I just ask them for their rubbish and offer to dispose of it
for them thus saving them a trip to the local dump which frees them
up for other things. Most places are happy for me to do this and I
have only come across 1 place that charged me $20 for a trailer load
of printers. Still good value as I have a few good Transformers and
2 sizeable steppers out of them.
Hope this is of help to some of you.
Warm regards from Richard.
