New to group and machining

Hello all,
Looking forward to learning and sharing experiences with this group!
I'm brand new to machining but I have several ideas I've been wanting
to build over the years. I just ordered a Harbor Freight 3-in-1
machine http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?
itemnumber=44142 and I want to automate it (suggestions quite
welcome!).
Does anyone here have any experience / suggestions for CNC'ing this
machine? I would really like to do it "right" the first time; I
presume this would mean adapting to ballscrew drive and servos? Once
again, I am brand new to this so please forgive my naivety!
