OT: Printer recommendation

Hello friends,
excuse me for all these off topic questions.
I just shot my Epson Stylus 440 printer.
In only 3 years it took me more money in repairs
and cartridges then buying four or more new ones.
Yesterday night it broke again. I tried to fix it but
one piece got lost.
I lost more working time with it then necessary,
because it always was jamming urgently needed pages.
I am feed up with it.
My old Canon Diconix printer lasted 8 or 9 years until
it became impossible to get cartridges.
Mechanically it is still OK.
A little while ago there was a recommendation of Lexmark
printers because you simply fill up each ink individually.
Without having to buy expensive cartridges
long before they are really empty.
Is it appropriate for harsh use and
having children using it too?
Does someone have another recommendation that is payable
in reasonable limits?
For to get back to CNC: Are these toy motors useful
for anything?
Thank you very much for your patience.
