crazy shaft attachment idea

Anyone have an estimate for the holding torque of an 11/16" R8 Collet?
I need to put a timing belt sprocket on the end of a lead screw, and
support it in a bearing, and mount an encoder wheel, all removeably,
and all using the same 3" of jorunal length at the tailstock end.
Where there enough space I would mount the sprocket on a trantorque
or similar tapered bushing. But something that was longer and thinnner
would work better - hence the idea of the idea of using an R8 collet in
a tube to grab the shaft.
