Home built edm users?

Hi All,
I have been wondering if there are any folk out there who have built and are
using home built EDM Wirecut machines.
I have scored an X,Y axis chassis from a PCB machine . Uses 20mm rails and
ball bushes so is very tempting to look at turning into a wirecut. I have a
couple of steppers which I am sure would drive it as I dont think much force
is involved (only needs to drive the chassis) One thing about the wire cut
is that it uses deionised water .....shouldnt be any fire risk!! compared
with a sinker.
However I have so many projects on the go I dont want to get carried away
and find there are more hassles than it was worth. It seems to me that to be
really useful it should be capable of really accurate work .
So I would appreciate comments from people who have the experience of
building and (or) actually using one.
