Bill,
This is the new version of a book I have. It is produced by Torcomp,
in Canada: http://www.torcomp.com/ Thay have it for sale for 49
bucks. They are an educational market supplier. Torcomp used to sell
machines, but I didn't see any on their site just now. Don't know if
they still do...
The sim software in/with the older version book is dos and was kinda
specific to their machines, g code wise. And very basic. Same with
the text. As others have said, it's an okay "one of several" books.
Meaning I would hope you look at more after this one. As to the sim,
I think you can learn more with the flashcut demo, or similar.
Out of twenty or so books like this, I would say it is in the top10
(mostly because it is at least mostly accurate in what it DOES say,
even if, as some other has pointed out, it is not very inclusive),
maybe top 5 in the new version(which I have not seen, but I did talk
to some people at Torcomp about it awhile back-before the new version
was published.) I consider number one to be Mike Lynches" "Computer
Numerical Control for Machining" (at least until mine is out<G>)
Like controllers, most books have excellent PARTS.
Hope this helps.
