Carl:
A NiMH rechargeable "AA" cell has 1500 mAH. This is very much more than a
"plain, dry-cell version" (aka "Leclanche cell") ($3 each for the NiMH, I
think!). The only book I have giving the mA-hours for cells from "N" to #6,
and on into the infamous "B batteries" of tube-radio days is for OLD
Leclanche, only, and is surely LONG obsolete! So, I'd just GUESS that a
"plain, cheap dry-cell version" (Leclanche) "AA" would have a mA rating of
maybe 500 mA-Hour.
One was to find OUT, of course, is wire up a LED to one, and "stop-watch it"!
You will need NO "current-limit" R if you use ONE cell, but you will need at
least 68 ohm, if not 100, in series with the LED if you use TWO cells ("3
V").
Hope this is useful! Jan Rowland, Old Troll
