Off the shelf mill

Hi Gang;
Got some questions about putting a mill together from mostly off the shelf
parts. At http://www.use-enco.com, their Palmgren compound milling table is
still going for $218.98, but in their Hot Deals section it's down to $189,
along with similar reductions in their other tables, and lots o' other items.
It weighs about 52 lbs.
I'm not sure what a self centering 3 jaw chuck would add, (or even which one
would be appropriate), but their various Hor/Ver rotary tables weigh in between
50 to 200 lbs, (shipping weights all).
How much weight could one of these xy tables be expected to manage without
seeing excessive/accellorated wear? What size/torque/power ratings etc., would
be required of steppers/servos to move it around in a reasonably quick/strong/
accurate manner with a good, appropriately sized, acme or ball screw?
Thanks a heap, (plus shipping).....:-)
