Gents,
The type of mechanism used to keep a car window from dropping into the
door could be adapted to keep the ballscrews under control. I think they are
called regulators in automotive service. Turning the handle either way would
relax a spring set brake. Upon release of the handle, the brake would lock
the screw. This is often used in cable winches also albeit in a single
direction.
