I want to convert my taig lathe to automatic feed. Im going to use
1/4-20 threaded rod and a half nut. My question is. What kind of dc
motor can I use to run the lead screw? I might cnc it later. but for
a quick convertion, I want to run the lead screw off some sort of
motor that I can reverse directions on(other then a stepper motor). I
was thinking about a car door window motor. Any body got any ideas. I
thought of a drill but I dont want to listen to it wind all the
time. Can you hook up a stepper motor with out a computer or a
controller card? Can you just wire the stepper motor to a power
supply? maybe use switches to reverse direction?
