Ron,
Not all of this was/is speculation. Some list members reported
commercial controls with a stepper used for the jogwheel. I *think* I
have seen this myself, but it may have been an encoder with a
stepper "look" (It was a long while back). So there may be more to
this yet...
But he IS a very helpful guy, and it IS nice to see someone doing an
actual test, as you have said.

P.S. Mariss, What were the amp/volt ratings of the motor(s) you
tested?
