I mentioned the other uses because my inletting machine uses 12 linear ball
bearings. I can use rectangular blocks for all of those and for fixed end
point mounting for the shafts as well. Can use them for other projects too.
I'll agree with you on making them solid. It's pretty easy to cut a slot.
I don't know what I'd want to use your extrusions for. It would depend on
the actual shape and if it fit what I was doing. I suppose everyone would
have that "problem".
It's much easier to modify a rectangular block than an extruded shape. This
would be even more important if you wanted to use it as a ball screw bearing
block.
