How much are auctioned manual mills and lathes worth?

I have the chance to purchase some used mills and lathes, however I
don't know what they are worth used. I don't know the conditions of the
equipment either. So I'm trying to gather as much information about
used milling and lathe equipment as possible.

Sizes range from 42x9 to 50x10 manual mills (with and without digital
readouts).

How much are these worth, without warrantee, and (I hope) in decent
working condition?

If you (the reader) wouldn't mind, could you share some info:
- How much have you paid for your mill and/or lathe (and in what funds,
USD, CND, Euro)?
- What kind of make/model year/year purchased/condition when purchased?

I just want to be an informed consumer, before I do anything else. I
figure that all these can be rigged up with servos or steppers (I want
servos after seeing Jeff Davis' machine working)

This segment of my message may be off topic, when I/you go to an
auction, should I be bidding on these machines as if it was worth its
weight in scrap metal? Some people have told me find out how much
something is new, and then pay 20 - 25 cents on the dollar.
