Thanks for the reminder. I'm now interested in your findings with your big
transformer. From your earlier description, it sounds like the
white/blue/purple/gray/green/black are a pair of tapped primaries. Like
others suggested, try connecting 12.6VAC to the brown leads and measure the
primary leads to see if they're tapped for over or under 120 volts. I'd
really like to get a DC voltage just under 80 volts so I can maximize my
steppers. That translates into about 56VAC on the secondary. The best your
transformer could do is 43VAC and a full-wave rectifier (~60VDC) UNLESS
games could be played with the taps on the primary. Keep us posted on what
you find out.
