Matt
Thanks for the info. My father in law saw the mill and says
it looks very clean. Was in use up till 3 weeks ago. They
said it would cost $10k to upgrade to modern controls so they
decided to sell it. I don;t know if that was due to problems
or if they just decided to buy a new one ( or stop teaching
cnc???). The best thing is that they can load it on a trailer
with their own fork lift. Christmas might be early for me this
year!!!!
Now for some more questions...
1) can the existing servo-amps be re-used or will
they need to be replaced for an EMC update?
2) Are the leadscrews direct or belt driven?
3) R8 taper?
4) is there Motor speed control? How is it controlled?
5) I assume everthing is 3phase? 220V?
6) Approximate weight? (so I don't bust the trailer!!)
7) Did you rewire all the safetly and estop stuff? Was some
of it re-usable?
8) Any limitations in the mill itself? accuracy, wearout points?
Finally..... Since you have done one of these... Would
you do it again if you had the chance? Was it worth the
cost/effort?
