New to group

Hi,
I am new to the group. I retired 6 months ago and getting bored. My project is to build a cnc router driven off the pc.
The xwork place was into making optical sensers and cameras. One device was the senser used in the optical mice. It is a small camera that mapps the surface of the paper and software measures the amount of movement. The
output can be a A/B quad. I wonder is this device would make a DRO.
