Yes, that's me alright. I guess that picture is about three years old. It was
taken by a photographer who came up to visit my shop along with a couple of
other management and public relations folks from NIST. The machine is the
first retrofit job of my old V2E3 that used the PMAC card from Delta-Tau. The
GUI on the screen is the original one written in Visual Basic when the EMC
was only a user interface, G code interpreter, and PLC running on Windows NT
3.51. The PMAC card did all the real time motion control stuff using 3 DSPs!
The switch to Linux occurred so that those functions could be done in
software rather than with that $4,000 board. The machine in that picture was
later converted to a Linux/Servo To Go configuration before being sold.
