~The word gives it away. Quad means four. So your 10,000 pulse encoder is
~really a 2500 line with the pick-ups translating this into quatrature it
~equals the 10,000 pulses. Notice I have used the words lines and pulses.
~There is also two outputs from then encoder an A and B channel.

I understand that Quad = four. What I guess my question should have been
was, How should I choose encoders? From what I understand, the counts per
revolution on a rotary encoder are what determines the resolution of the
encoder. Correct me if I'm wrong, But if you have a 1000 line encoder and
a 1" pich screw (hypothetically) the encoder could count exactly 1 inch per
revolution of your screw. Am I correct?
