First, welcome to the group!

The G201 and the G210 start out as the same drives. The G210 has a G901
(pulse multiplier board) plugged in where an opto would be on the G201.
This pulse multiplier can be set to output 1,2,5,10 pulses for every
pulse it receives. The output of the pulse multiplier goes to the normal
input on the drive in place or the original signal. The effect is that
you can make the G210 act like it is a full step, half step, 5x or 10x
microstep drive. When in 10X mode it is just like using a G201. The only
other thing between a 201 and a 210 is the 210 can be set to use gnd as
common to the computer in place of +5V all though Gecko recommends the
+5v setup.

I'll throw another drive in the mix to consider. I have some new in the
factory box API CMD-260 microstep drives I am selling at a HUGE discount
