this maybe a litte off topic, but i think it bears commenting too...
first of all, windows is and was generally made for the 'average to
novice' computer user... it is diliberately made that way for a
reason and not because you think that the sun rises or shines on bill
and intel...
power users know that there are other OS solutions out there like
unix, linux, or sun OS, but don't disparage an entire OS like windows
because you think it is beneath you for some reason or that because
there legacy problems or issues, that somehow it negates its use for
the purposes of general computer use or even cnc usage...
the average computer user who uses windows does not care about what
is happening in the background... the average to novice computer user
wants to boot up and use programs with the least amount of worry...
most computer users do not have the need to recompile kernels like
you can in unix or linux... why bag an OS because you don't like how
it works...?
i think most of us on here know that for the most part industry right
down to the internet is powered by unix and its flavors, but to the
average user it is and should be transparent...
now, in reference to the black box running under windows, i
personally have no problem with this since my install base is already
windows oriented and i have a parallel port and i don't envision the
parallel port leaving anytime soon... so to me it doesn't matter how
the information gets to the black box as long as it does and that it
all works out of the box with the least amount of fiddling... some
things in life should be easy and not hard and in this case with the
black box, i want it to be as easy as possible...
