Quadrature Decoder - Add Step Multiplier

I am going to build the quadrature decoder from the "files" section.
Is there a simple way to add a step multiplier? This would make the
system move the desired number of linear units per pulse. Ideally
you can switch between .001" - .01" - .1" etc.
I'm sure this has been discussed already also, just point me in the
right direction, many thanks.
