I use Anderson PowerPole contacts for my Ham Radio Gear and
am planning to use them for my steppers. The contacts are
shielded and rated at 25 amps or so and the individual
housings come in a variety of colors and attach to one
another with interlocking clips so you can assemble them
into a plugblock where the block can contain many signals
that are colorcoded as to what they are. A little bit of
planning will generate a system that never gets things wrong
as long as you are not color blind.
One way would be to use Red for +5, Black for Ground, Yellow
for +12 and your imagination can go on from there. They
should be available at your local electronics supply place.
