Interesting, as the 13' (foot) long gantry on my cnc router
is driven this way, with bearings 3 feet or so apart (roller bearing/cam
followers on 1" rail) and the only unintended movement I get has to do with
not running a reducer from the stepper to the rack (yet!) this on a machine
that cost over 100K new (in the 80's). yes, this can work.
