The new edition of "mechanisms and mechanical devices sourcebook"
that is the 3rd edition, has a fairly comprehensive section on motion
control, mechanicals, servomotors, encoders, steppers, etc.
Barnes and Noble carries it. It is about 80 bucks but you can go get
a cup of coffee and read the good parts in the store.
I bought the second edition a few years ago and I wish I had waited.
