Indexer with Gecko power...

Just spent a useful couple of hours testing my DivisionMaster indexer
with John Stevenson's Hoffmann dividing head, via a Gecko 210 set to
half-step operation. I have uploaded a JPG of the setup to the photos
section - in folder DivisionMaster - a 12" rule gives the scale:

The dividing head is fitted with a size 42 8-wire stepper, rated at
2V, 9A, and there is a 40:1 reduction ratio between the motor shaft &
the output spindle. In this test, the motor was paralell wired, and
driven at the Gecko's max output current (7 amps) from a 74 volt
supply. DivisionMaster provided the step-and-direction and
enable/disable signals to the Gecko.
Needless to say, John wasn't able to stop the chuck rotating when it
was being driven...
