Subject: Anyone use Rhino with step/dir hardware?
Does anyone know of a method of using Rhino with Step/Direction
hardware, at a reasonable cost?
I contacted Rhino and there is no direct G-code output from the
software and I haven't been able to find a step/dir package that
reads stl files. At present I am running dos / windows and am
reluctant to lean a new operating system such as Linux.
Any help appreciated.
[ Step and direction isn't a special type of NC program,- it's a way that
your control program sends signals to the drive motors in response to G-code
commands. A phase-drive controller will start with the same G-code but
interpret it differently. That said, there are several translation programs
I sell that would write G-code from a Rhino-generated STL file. In
increasing order of expense they are: MillWizard, DeskProto Lite, STLWork,
Rams, DeskProto 3.0, and VisualMill. Which one would be best for you would
depend on what exactly you're trying to accomplish.]
