Hi Richard,

I am in the process of retrofitting a Vero which sounds exactly the same as
the one you are looking at. It is a very good quality machine. It has ball
screws and field wound brush type DC motors with encoders fitted on X and Y
axis. Z axis is another story though, at the moment it has hydraulic ram
for the Z axis with flow control valves for each of the feed rates for the
six different turret positions. It has 2 vertical (Z axis slideways). one
for rough positioning and the other one has about 6" travel under hydraulic
control. I just ripped the hydraulic ram out and fitted a ball screw in its
place, I use the rough positioning slide as intended and have the second
slide under CNC control. All in all, a very good solid machine 3.5 tons,
very easy to retrofit.

The spindle speed is 8 speeds which are controlled by elec/magnetic clutch
packs.

Hope this is helpfull
Andrew
