187 Volt PMDC brush servo motors - useful?

The local scrap yard has a pile of vintage Cincinnati Milacron T3-786
robots. These 7000lb monsters have dc servos that I understand were
originally powered via SCR drives.

Some of the *smaller* motors on this beast are rated at 187 volts, 8
ft-lb stall torque at 20 amps. I lost the paper that I wrote the
specs on so I'm going from memory.

Are these motors useful for home CNC? (milldrill?, bridgeport?)

Geckos being limited to 80 volts, is there similar drive out there
that can handle a higher voltage?

Thanks,
Tom Scarince

PS These guys also use a ~2" ballscrew for the elbow actuator :)
