Installing Linux on the iO is fairly straight forward. I've got them
running both the ZipSlack and BDI EMC installs. They are driving a 4
axis Camtronics P/S with G340's and 600 oz-in. servos. Runs Great.
The touch screen is already supported by Linux, and requires only an
XF86Config edit to operate flawlessly with the EMC Gui (mouse
simultaneously active).
I had a bunch of industrial enclosures manufactured that fit the iO,
to give more room for some expansion, like a CDROM. These are perfect
for machine mounting. Interested parties will find the last of these
available at BadFlash.com.
The iO itself is a Rise 200 or 266 MHz, P5 equivilent. It can be
made to run up to 450 MHz if desired. They have 2 serials, 1 usb,
built in 56k modem, and single parallel port, in a very low profile
800x600 DSTN flat panel platform.
If I get some time I'll post some pics of the basic hardware.
