I have purchased several Metex DMMs from Jameco over the years and all of
them have been excellent quality for the money. I always specify them over
Fluke because they do the same job for significantly less money.
The Metex meters make the same sound as a Fluke when the forklift runs over
them. They make the same poof when some freshman student sets them on 20A
and sticks the probes in a wall socket. They bounce just as high when you
drop them from 30 feet.
Accuracy is essentially the same. I once purchased a $230 Simpson DMM
thinking it was somehow superior to my $40 Metex. Ended up giving it to an
employee with clear instructions that he was never to bring it back into the
shop.
