Mill/Drill Conversion - Which brand?

Hi All,
I'm wondering what everyone thinks is the best and/or easiest mill
drill to convert to CNC. As always, cost is a major consideration.
I've had good luck with a couple of Jet lathes in the past and am
considering their JMD-18 mill drill. A local dealer told me Jet is
having a promotion starting sometime this month and the savings would
be "substantial". Going to go look at one next week. It's in the
same size class as the Grizzly models (weighs 660 lbs.) I'm not
interested in the MaxNC or Taig sized units.
Are certain brands easier to convert to ballscrews due to their
design? I'll be using the standard acme screws to start and later
convert to ballscrews.
Any experiences with or observations about any brands are welcome.
Thanks,
Ralph
