OT: schematic capture freeware

This post doesn't directly relate to CAD/CAM/DRO, so
please respond off-list. I'm posting to the list
because many people here do quite a bit of hardware
design AND because the product of the design is actually
for my CNC....
The last time I did any significant schematic capture
was with OrCAD. I don't have access to that anymore.
I've heard of some freeware or evaluation software that
is fairly decent, but wanted to solicit opinions on what
is out there. The first criteria is schmatic capture.
I must be able to save and do a capture of a fairly
significant board (say 30 ICs or so); nothing too
dramatic, but not two ICs either. Routing would also be
nice, but is not mandatory. If you know of a suitable
package I'd love to hear about it.
