There is an easier way to set the gain and dampening on the gecko G3X0.
I have a hand wheel that weights 1.5lbs . I mount this on the servo
motor. I first set the current limit by knowing what the peak current of
the motor is and set the trim pot accordingly. With the trim pot fully
CW it would be at 20A. With the unit powered up and no pulses coming
thru I manually turn the hand wheel feeling the servo amp trying to
return it to zero. If it faults out too easily then I increase the gain
until I have firm resistance. Once satified with that then I smartly
release the hand wheel. If it hammers sharply then I lower (CCW) the
dampening. If it softly stutters after release it is under dampened and
you need to increased (CW)
